Backend Developer
Reports To
Technical Lead
Role Purpose
The Backend Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performance backend applications and services. The role requires expertise in modern programming frameworks, cloud-native development, DevSecOps practices, and software engineering best practices to support the delivery of robust digital solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development
- Design, develop, and maintain backend applications, APIs, and microservices.
- Build scalable and secure enterprise-grade solutions using modern development frameworks.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integration services.
- Implement application security controls and secure coding practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents and application defects.
Architecture & Engineering
- Contribute to solution design and technical architecture discussions.
- Develop cloud-native and containerized applications.
- Ensure systems are scalable, resilient, performant, and maintainable.
- Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards.
DevSecOps & CI/CD
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated software delivery.
- Integrate security controls into development and deployment processes.
- Collaborate with DevOps and Security teams to implement infrastructure-as-code and deployment automation.
- Monitor application performance and support operational excellence.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Develop and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests.
- Support automated testing and quality assurance frameworks.
- Ensure code quality through peer reviews, static code analysis, and test coverage metrics.
- Participate in release management and deployment activities.
Cloud & Containerization
- Deploy and manage applications in cloud environments.
- Utilize container technologies for application packaging and deployment.
- Support platform modernization initiatives leveraging cloud-native capabilities.
Collaboration & Delivery
- Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, QA Engineers, and other developers.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
- Provide technical documentation and knowledge sharing across teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
- 2–4 years of software development experience.
- Demonstrated experience developing enterprise backend applications.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Experience with cloud-native application development and CI/CD delivery pipelines.
