HANNAH NJOKI MBURU

I am a passionate educator with over 22 years of rich experience dedicated to nurturing and empowering students from a variety of backgrounds at both the secondary and college levels. My teaching philosophy centers on fostering a vibrant and inclusive learning environment where curiosity is encouraged, creativity is sparked, and each student’s unique potential is realized.

My areas of specialization encompass Macro and Microeconomics, Business Studies, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Marketing, Management, and Geography. I meticulously tailor my lessons to cater to the individual needs of my students, whether they are high achievers or require additional support due to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). I adeptly work with a range of syllabuses, including Key Stage 3, GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, and various vocational courses, ensuring a comprehensive educational experience.

In my tutoring approach, I seamlessly integrate theoretical knowledge with practical applications to create dynamic and engaging lessons. These include interactive sessions enriched with real-life examples that resonate with students. I place a strong emphasis on developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, which have empowered many of my students to achieve remarkable academic success. I also employ a diverse array of assessment tools, such as quizzes and discussions, to ensure students truly master the content.

With extensive training from Cambridge Assessment International Education as an assessment specialist, I possess a profound understanding of international curriculum standards. I hold an MBA in Strategic Management along with a Bachelor of Education in Economics, Business Studies, and Geography, complemented by a Tutor of Trainers certificate in Competency-Based Assessment.

My experience extends beyond the classroom, as I also mentor new teachers and lead impactful workshops focused on environmental awareness. I actively contribute to the academic community by publishing in both local and international journals . I also work as

a panel member for curriculum design at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development.
