Education
I am currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, which has provided me with a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of computing. My coursework has covered a broad range of subjects including programming, database management, web development, networking, and cybersecurity. Through this academic journey, I have developed essential problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and the ability to design and implement technology-based solutions. As part of my studies, I have engaged in hands-on projects that emphasize real-world application of IT concepts. One notable project is the development of a secure E-voting system aimed at enhancing transparency and trust in the electoral process. This project not only strengthened my skills in software development using Python and Django but also deepened my understanding of cybersecurity principles. My university experience has also included opportunities for team collaboration, research, and presentations, all of which have contributed to my growth as a well-rounded and adaptable IT professional. I continue to take a proactive approach to learning, seeking to stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in the tech industry.
I completed my secondary education at Upper Hill School, a well-regarded national school known for its strong academic performance and emphasis on discipline and leadership. During my time at Upper Hill, I pursued the Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) curriculum and attained a mean grade of B (plain). This achievement reflects consistent effort, discipline, and a solid academic foundation across key subjects, particularly in mathematics, sciences, and languages. The school environment also provided me with opportunities to participate in co-curricular activities, which helped build my communication skills, teamwork, and self-confidence. My secondary education laid the groundwork for my transition into higher learning and helped shape my strong work ethic and commitment to academic and personal growth.
Work & Experience
Attachment Period – Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) Duration: 3 Months Department: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) During my three-month industrial attachment at Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), I was placed in the ICT department where I gained practical experience and insight into how technology supports operations in a large public utility organization. The attachment provided me with hands-on exposure to IT systems, support services, and daily operations in a professional work environment. Key Responsibilities and Experiences: System Support and Maintenance: Assisted in the maintenance of user workstations and IT equipment. This included performing software installations, updates, and minor hardware troubleshooting tasks. Network Troubleshooting: Helped diagnose and resolve basic network issues, including connectivity problems, printer configurations, and user login errors. User Support: Provided first-level technical support to staff by responding to user queries, resolving common IT issues, and escalating more complex problems to senior technicians. Documentation: Participated in the documentation of IT-related activities such as tracking maintenance requests, asset inventories, and preparing basic reports. Exposure to IT Security Practices: Observed the importance of access control, data protection, and secure system practices in a corporate environment — which helped spark my deeper interest in cybersecurity. The attachment improved my technical abilities, especially in troubleshooting and support, while also enhancing my communication, teamwork, and time management skills. Working alongside experienced professionals gave me a practical understanding of IT service delivery, professionalism in the workplace, and the critical role of technology in maintaining operational efficiency. This period was instrumental in shaping my career interests, especially in cybersecurity and systems development. It reinforced my passion for building secure, efficient digital systems that meet real organizational needs.
