About Candidate

·       Contract Management: successful negotiation, drafting, reviewing and vetting of various contracts with the aim of reducing legal risk and exposure;

·       Compliance management: ensuring the group complies with relevant laws and regulations, training the group on compliance related issues and engaging regulators and resolving compliance related issues;

·       Conducting legal research and preparing legal opinions and advice notes on various legal issues and aspects of the law to keep the group informed of the legal implications of its operations and decisions;

·       Engaging industry associations and stakeholders on compliance related issues including lobbying during policy development;

·       Corporate Governance: preparation of the framework for conducting annual governance audits; reviewing and updating company policies to ensure they are compliant with the law; maintaining the statutory registers and company records of various companies within the group and managing and coordinating the processing, verification and execution of all material legal documentation on behalf of the group;

·       Litigation Management: Developing case strategies in liaison with external counsel, negotiating legal fees with external counsel, managing communication with external counsel and tracking court dates, appointments and meetings with witnesses and clients;

·       Board Management: ensuring efficiency in board operations within the group by providing board secretarial services including development of board work plans, maintenance of board calendars, organizing board meetings, preparation and circulation of board reports, taking minutes and following up on action items to ensure management has implemented the same;

·       Conveyancing: implementing the property portfolio strategy, negotiating various

conveyancing transactions and instruments including sale agreements and leases,

supervising external counsel undertaking the transactions and ensuring compliance of

the property portfolio to various laws and regulations;

·       Risk Management: identifying risks that may potentially face the entities within the group across various jurisdictions, suggesting and implementing mitigations for the same, monitoring the effectiveness of the mitigations implemented and training the business on risk related issues;

·       Data protection: ensuring compliance with data protection laws across the group by developing and implementing data protection programs for the various jurisdictions the company operates in;

·       Debt Collection: development of strategies for ensuring recovery of outstanding debt, management of debt collectors, appointment of external counsel to pursue recovery in court and negotiating on fees with external counsel;

·       Proactive management of the group’s intellectual property portfolio to avert potential risks to the group and harness available opportunities; and

·       Training staff members on various legal issues.
