Job Description

Location: Nairobi

About the Role A leading multinational is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive competitive and sustainable growth across Tanzania, Rwanda, and emerging East Africa markets. The role focuses on establishing and managing Route-to-Market distributors, negotiating trading terms, and implementing market development strategies to maximise opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver on P&L, ensuring profitability across channels
  • Negotiate and manage trading terms, budgets, and pricing
  • Cascade and implement channel business plans at customer level
  • Drive compliance with governance frameworks
  • Lead in-store execution through distributors
  • Input into S&OP and category planning processes
  • Implement marketing strategies to optimise brand performance
  • Ensure product availability and visibility KPIs are met
  • Lead and manage field sales teams to deliver business targets
  • Collaborate with internal functions (Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, HR) to achieve growth plans

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree minimum
  • 10–12 years’ experience as a Sales Manager or Key Account Manager
  • Strong knowledge of Route-to-Market channels
  • Experience in distributor management is an advantage
  • Proven stakeholder management with senior executives
  • Experience working in a matrix organisation
