Reporting To: Technical Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and highly organised Technical Planner to support the Technical Manager in overseeing maintenance and engineering activities across multiple sites in Nairobi and Mombasa.

The successful candidate will play a central role in ensuring that technical projects and maintenance activities are properly planned, resourced and executed efficiently. The role will monitor technician workloads, track project timelines and coordinate closely with teams responsible for execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate ongoing technical projects across Nairobi and Mombasa.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, ensuring alignment with deadlines and resource availability.
  • Track technical works and provide regular updates on progress, delays and next steps.
  • Monitor technician assignments, workloads and daily activities to support optimal deployment.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly work plans for technicians and follow up on task completion.
  • Liaise with procurement, stores and other departments to ensure timely availability of parts and tools.
  • Maintain accurate work orders and project documentation.
  • Identify project execution bottlenecks and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Coordinate between sites to ensure consistency in technical operations and project standards.
  • Support the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Participate in planning meetings and provide insights on team capacity and project feasibility.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a technical or engineering coordination/planning role.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, work order systems and maintenance planning.
  • Good knowledge of technical operations and workshop environments.
  • Experience coordinating technical teams across multiple sites is an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and follow-up skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, project management tools and technical reporting.
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency and the ability to work independently when required.
  • Familiarity with CMMS or ERP systems managing more than 1,000 assets.
  • Knowledge of boilers, ovens, HVAC and other hospitality equipment.
